Yes. The Museum is open to the public seven days a week from 10am to 5pm. Ticket prices are available on our website. Please note that the Museum closes over the Christmas period. Full details are available online.
No. The Museum is open to everyone. Areas that were previously restricted, including the upper level of the Wohl Pathology Museum, have been fully open to the public since refurbishment in 2015.
Due to the nature of the collections, we do not recommend the Museum for children under 10. This is a guideline only. Younger visitors are welcome at the discretion of their parent or guardian.
All children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
The Museum does not have a car park. Pay and display on street parking is available nearby. Details can be found on the City of Edinburgh Council website.
We are unable to store visitor belongings. Bags may be carried throughout the Museum.
There is no café within the Museum. Visitors receive a 10% discount at Café 1505, located at the entrance to the Museum gardens.
Current job vacancies are advertised on the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh website. We do not run a regular volunteering programme, but short term opportunities may arise. If you would like to register your interest, please email museum@rcsed.ac.uk Expressions of interest are held for up to two years.
At present, we are unable to offer work placements or volunteering opportunities for school students.

We are unable to offer tours for individual visitors. Education groups are welcome to contact us to discuss their requirements via museum@rcsed.ac.uk

All levels of the Museum are accessible by lift. A section of the upper gallery in the Wohl Pathology Museum may not be accessible to wheelchairs wider than 66cm.

Due to the sensitive nature of human remains in the collections, photography, filming, and image supply are restricted and considered on a case by case basis. Further information is available on our website.
Sketching using dry materials is welcome. Small folding stools are available from the ticket desk.
Guide and assistance dogs are welcome.
